Obama in...Minnesota?

I know what everyone's thinking, "Minnesota? Random!" For the record, it's actually a pretty cool state, although I might have a bias.  In any case, President Barack Obama continued his campaign trail in Minnesota with some fancy and super expensive lunches I couldn't afford, and a stop at the Honeywell International headquarters plant to make a speech encouraging people to hire veterans of Iraq. Since the War in Iraq is ending, a huge amount of soldiers will be coming back and they need non-military jobs. Apparently it's been a struggle for veterans to get hired because many don't have "certificates and credentials" for jobs, which I'm assuming means college degrees.  Since a college degree has become a basic requirement for most well paying jobs now, Obama is creating a program through the Defense Department "to transfer the skills veterans learned in the military into certificates and credentials they need for civilian jobs."  I'm glad Obama is thinking through the natural consequences of bringing so many men & women home from Iraq and giving them help with the transition.  It's also a smart political move, since (despite the fact that he didn't create the recession) he has been blamed for the continuation of our economic downturn.  Job creation is (usually) good for the economy, and those are good buzzwords for him to use in his campaign.

Alternative good buzzwords: the "Cool" President, Change, Oprah, "As a United States citizen" (just to piss off all the "birthers" out there)

Young, Wild, & Political

Well, this is my blog.  I got the name idea from the song "young, wild & free."  My name is Clare, and I'm a 22 year old college student that's always been interested in politics.  This blog is going to have updates on current political happenings, mostly U.S. but occasionally worldwide, along with my observations and sometimes my opinion.  Feel free to disagree with my opinion in the comments, as much as I like to think I'm always right, I'm probably not.  If I'm lucky this blog MIGHT even have some interviews with politicians, which could be pretty cool. Anyway, this is my first blog so let's get started!
